GW's a lot harder than WoW, especially the PvP, but if you meet and get to know an experienced player who has too much time on his hands, he'll be able to help, no doubt. I used to teach people how to play sometimes.

Both games are fine but to you Gw players WoW has over 10 million subscribers (sept-05) and Gw has Rougly arouge 3mill

guild wars has better PvP in my book (no pve crap to deal with. you can make a character at lv cap stirhgt out of the box) WoW has MUCH better pve. i play both but i strickly do pvp in guild wars. ( plus Guild War's verson of twinks are easyer to deal with)
